Coping with Holiday Stress

With the holidays upon us there will usually be stress, drama, and conflict.  The holidays are especially hard on those that have lost love ones or dealing with illnesses.

If you have lost a love one, do an activity in their honor. Light a candle for them, listen to their favorite song, or prepare their favorite desert.

If you are dealing with an illness or a family member that has an illness, spend time with them, but remember you have to take care of you in order to be the best you can be for them.

Remember the holidays are about family, starting or continuing traditions, and being with your loved ones.  If you start to feel stressed out over the preparations, then take a 10-minute break and listen to music that will calm you down, go for a walk, read a book, or call a friend.

If you find you are having trouble dealing with the holidays on your own, please seek the help of a professional counselor.  Until next time, have a safe and wonderful holiday season.
