Hello everyone…I have decided to do a review of a book that I have read. Common Sense Parenting by Ray Burke, Ph.D.; Ron Herron; and Bridget A. Barnes, MS. This book is for parents with children from 6 to 16 years of age. And it takes you step by step to teach your children social skills, and end the power struggle.
Common Sense Parenting focuses on four parenting skills: Effective Praise, Preventive Teaching, Effective Teaching, and Teaching Self-Control. I highly recommend reading this book especially if you are having difficulty with your children. The one thing that I learned while reading this book is that discipline does not mean punishment it means teach. When we discipline our children we are teaching them what behaviors we want them to exhibit.
I have learned that when you are having issues with your children misbehaving it is difficult finding things to practice effective praise, but you have to keep at it. This will not work overnight, you have to practice practice and practice over and over.
If you would like to purchase the book please click the link below and it will take you to the product, and my Amazon Associate page, I do get a percentage which I will use for my practice.
