Statistics show that divorce is on the rise for each marriage there is a 40% chance of divorce for 1st marriages, 50% for 2nd marriages and 60% for 3rd marriages.
Divorce is the dissolution of marriage. People divorce for many reasons such as:
- Domestic violence
- Differences of personality
- Lack of communication and more
I know the pain and suffering of divorce, in fact I am a part of the 50% of second marriages that fail. My first marriage lasted 5 years and my second about 13 years.
When you are getting a divorce it feels like someone has died, so it is normal to grieve for your lost marriage. If you have children, you have lost your co-parent, financial support, best friend, and more. If you don’t have children, you feel like you have lost your dreams for your future the life you have always envisioned.
I am starting a divorce support group on November 9th at 6:30 pm located at 913 W. Holmes Rd #178A, Lansing, MI for $10/week. Childcare will be provided. If you are in the Lansing area and interested please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
This group will offer support and encouragement to help you get through the hardest time of your life.
One thing that I have learned when going through both divorces is you have to take care of yourself before you can deal with your children, ex-spouse, the house, and anything else you have to deal with. Going through a divorce during the holiday season is difficult, but you can do it no matter what.
We as women have to get used to relying on ourselves once again and I am hoping that with this group we can do that.
See you on Wednesday, November 15th at 6:30 pm…
